The History

The ketogenic way of eating has been around for centuries as an informal way to treat epilepsy. It can be traced as far back as 500 BC as a form of fasting for multiple health benefits. Ancient Greek philosopher and physician Hippocrates taught that epilepsy was a biological and not a spiritual problem, and he recommended fasting (a form of low-carb eating like the keto diet) to treat and prevent it. So in short, the ketogenic diet is backed by science and can work for weight loss. Which mean if you stick around for a bit and learn the keto way of eating, you too can see results.

How Does Keto Work?

Doctor Rollin Woodyatt was an endocrinologist who discovered acetone and beta-hydroxybutyric acid were found in high levels in patients that fasted and limited their carb intake.Those two compounds are ketones and they are at the root of the ketogenic diet. READ THIS NEXT PART TWICE lol. When you are eating according to a keto diet, you will produce ketones which means you are burning fat! This is the fat you aim to lose.

The Difference of the ketogenic diet from other diets

The ketogenic diet is likely to work the same way as other diets eventually - it burns more calories than you consume, known as a calorie deficit. The main difference is that you eat more fats than proteins and carbs. This will result in you feeling fuller for longer.

 The most attractive part of the diet is how easy it is to remain faithful to the food plan because of how delicious the food is. With the keto diet you’ll be omitting carbs, but indulging in whole fat foods like bacon, cheese, fatty fish, creams, and so many more yummy goodies. You can have cakes, cookies, chips, soups, and even candy.  Do I have your attention yet? Lol. I know all of this sounds heavenly, but of course the food you can eat should be in moderation and healthy proportions.
